Civil War, General William Jackson Palmer came with Kansas Pacific Railroad as a reviewer to the Colorado Territory. He came in search of prospects for railroad trails Kansas Pacific could use, originally having looked in the region south of Denver. He wanted to utilize the Pikes Peak Valley, but Kansas Pacific was opposed, so he sought approval elsewhere instead and established the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. Then, in 1871, he founded Colorado Springs. Now, when visitors stay in Colorado Springs luxury hotels they can enjoy a unique culture with the surrounding events and attractions.
